This Planet Takes it to The Extreme!
April 23, 2009We talked about this planet on the Morning Show, which I first learned about by reading the Bad Astronomy blog. It orbits a star in the constellation best known as the Big Dipper and has some very extreme conditions. Such as the shape of the orbit around its star that brings it very close in, scorching the planet, and then swings far, far away leaving it out in the cold. This produces winds in excess of 11,000 miles per hour! Check out the story to find out even more fun facts about this extreme planet.

April 21, 2009I just found this over at Home-Designing and I was immediately blown away. Sliding House, by dRMM Architecture, does just what its name implies—it slides! The wood exterior of the home slides back to reveal a greenhouse-esque interior that allows in all the sun you can handle.
Definitely check out the rest of the photos, including some stunning shots of the house at night and during winter!

What Is Nanotechnology, Anyways?
April 15, 2009The American Chemical Society recently held their “What is Nano?” video contest where submissions had to describe nanotechnology—how it affects our society and the world around us. Well, the winner has been picked and, at least for this geek, it is hilarious! Since I mention nanotechnology on the Morning Show quite often, I figured this might be a helpful and fun introduction.

The Riiflex Is in Charge of Finding Your Fit Body…
April 9, 2009The Nintendo Wii gets made fun of quite often. And it is easy to see why…with accessories like the Riiflex dumbells. Here’s a bit of their marketing copy:
“Riiflex™ weights introduce a new way to add resistance to your Wii™, and Wii Fit™ workouts. Add weight to both the Wii™ Remote and Wii™ Nunchuk and make your Wii™ Fitter.”
Video games as exercise? Oh, oh yes. (Did anyone catch the Duran Duran reference in the title?)

Extreme Sheep LED Art!
March 19, 2009Check out this amazing video put together by some very creative sheep herders. It starts out a bit slow, but soon you get to see their creativity shine.
