• Foggy Morning Sunrise

  I’ve been waiting for just the right time to get this shot. This is at the intersection of Santiam Terrace Rd. and Highway 20. Each morning I see the sun rising over Mark’s Ridge just behind these trees and hoping that the morning fog will cooperate. This morning, the fog cooperated and the light layer of frost helped too!

  Jay Burcham, an Albany based metals dealer, joins Steve Wohlers to discuss the proposed legislation to combat metal theft. Such legislation may require metal dealers to retain details of all metal sales, similar to the way gun retailers are regulated. This could include photos of sellers and possibly a waiting period of 3 or 10 days to complete the sale.

  Firefighters from all over the west coast will be gathering this weekend in Salem. The 2nd Annual Firefighter Safety & Survival Symposium kicks off today, Friday the 9th. • Budget For Milage Tax Implementation Set At $10 Million

  The Albany Democrat Herald is reporting that $10 million has been earmarked by Oregon’s governor for use in determining the details of a switch from a gas based tax system to a mileage based system. As this initiative calls for GPS hardware to be installed in vehicles, cooperation from vehicle manufacturers would be needed. This would likely mean that more states than Oregon alone would need to show support for changing to such a mileage based tax. The Democrat Herald has the full story.

  Two of Country’s top stars, Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler, will be a part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve this year. Taylor Swift will perform on stage alongside The Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney and many more. Meanwhile, Kellie Pickler is set to provide live reports from Times Square.

• Jake Owen Announces His Second Album To Be Released In February

  Jake Owen’s single—”Don’t Think I Can’t Love You”—is currently rising through the charts. The song is now known to be the first single off his second album, Easy Does It. The album’s release date has been set for February 24th of 2009.

• Local Child’s Life Saved By Neighbor

  Lebanon mother Stefanie Stanley was giving her five month old baby Brayden Breshears a bath when she briefly left the bathroom to get a towel. Moments later she returned to find Brayden face down in the bathwater. Stefanie rushed her son to her neighbor, Karie Truelove, who saved Brayden’s life by quickly administering CPR.

  Starting early next year you’ll be able to get your tickets for Keith Urban’s 2009 tour. The first performance is scheduled for May and should extend through the summer, but details have yet to be released. Performers joining Urban on stage are set to include Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Glen Campbell, Lady Antebellum, and The Zac Brown Band.
