Charles Krauthammer on Obama’s recent USA is lazy comment
November 15, 2011Transcript
“No one is asking him to go out there and a cheerleader. But when you call your own country lazy when you are abroad and call it unambitious and soft when you are home, I think what you are showing is nothing but ill-concealed contempt. Obama is ready to blame everybody except himself for the lousy economy. The lack of investment. Why are people reluctant to invest? We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world, in the industrialized world. Obama has spoken about it. One issue on which the republicans would have agreed on lowering that rate, eliminating the loopholes in three years in office. He has done nothing. Trying to shut down $1 billion plant that was constructed as a favor to obama union ally people look abroad and say this isn’t a place I want to do business. It’s his issues, his overregulation over taxation. All the red tape he has added. Now he blames Americans’ laziness. Unseemly. “ -

STUDS ‘OKAY’ ON OREGON ROADS TUESDAY 11/1–OR ARE THEY??
October 31, 2011Tuesday, November 1st is when studded tires are legal again in Oregon for the winter season. The tires are used most often in rural areas that can be hit with lots of ice and snow on the roads. Proponents say they save untold numbers of lives and reduce injuries and property damage. Opponents say on dry pavement, studded tires do much more damage than ODOT has the money to fix. ODOT recommends carrying chains, and stopping to chain up every time it snows, then taking them off every time you hit dry pavement. ODOT also says expensive new high-tech snow tires outperform studded tires in many winter driving conditions. And a Portland man is trying to get a studded tire ban on the November, 2012 ballot.

SUPPORT FOR ‘OCCUPY’ PROTESTS DOWN TO 32%–HERE’S WHY
October 25, 2011A few weeks ago, when Democrats were scrambling to support the “occupy” protests and falsely likening them to the Tea Party movement, polls showed 54% of Americans supported the unruly mobs who said they were protesting corporate greed. Then came word of mass arrests, tolerance for sex and drug criminals in their midst. Socialist agendas, street blockades, and demands for ‘get out of jail free’ cards. Support for the ‘occupy’ movement dropped to 37% nationwide. The latest CNN poll released yesterday shows support for the ‘occupy’ squatters at just 32% nationwide. Another example of why: the Eugene City Council voted 5-3 to exempt the ‘occupy’ protesters from the city no-camping law–through December 15th. But, councilors voted that protesters would have to get permission to move their encampment, and its legal status could be pulled if the city manager deems it a danger. Unclear is whether the protesters, who started camping illegally, would comply with any city directive at any time. ‘No’ voters on the council questioned the increasing numbers of homeless campers joining the mob (many of whom have violent criminal histories or drug and alc0hol problems) because the no-camping law is still being enforced against them elsewhere in the city. Organizers expect Alton Baker Park will soon be a muddy mess–to cost taxpayers thousands of dollars to clean up. They are asking for donations of food, clothing, blankets and tarps to continue the protest through the rainy season.

TEA PARTY — NOTHING LIKE “OCCUPY” PROTESTS
October 24, 2011More and more evidence that the Tea Party rallies of 2009 were not at all like the ‘occupy’ encampments. Portland Police arrested two people over the weekend at the Occupy Portland camp. Both were convicted drug criminals. A 28-year old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A 34-year old woman was arrested on a methamphetamine-related parole violation. She told police that she was the “resources director” for Occupy Portland. Regulars said they had no such position–that they prefer no organized leadership at all. In Eugene, the city council has been told by the city manager to legalize the illegal camp–to grant a waiver from the no-camping law to the ‘occupy’ protesters. Because Eugene has not enforced the law uniformly, the ‘occupy’ encampment has been swollen by homeless campers, against whom the anti-camping law has still been enforced. Police say homeless campers—many of whom have drug and violent crime records–have been joining the ‘occupy’ protests around the country for a free, no-hassle place to camp, do and sell drugs, and get free donated food.
