Lebanon Fire responds to second shop fire in three days
February 25, 2016At 11:05AM Thursday morning, the Lebanon Fire District responded to its second shop fire in three days. Upon arrival firefighters found a fully involved 40×24 shop on fire with flames beginning to extend into the house approximately 15ft away. Firefighters quickly put water on the house to cool it off and prevent any further damage until more crews could arrive and assist with water supply.
Because of the lack of fire hydrants in the rural location the Incident Commander requested additional water tenders (large trucks that carry a lot of water) from neighboring agencies. In all, four agencies operated at the scene. Lebanon Fire was assisted by Brownsville FD, Tangent FD, and LCSO. Firefighters spent approximately two hours and 10 minutes on scene, there were no injuries, and the home next to the shop sustained only minor damage to the siding and windows. The fire was thought to have started as the result of an occupant welding near open fuel containers.
