Budget For Milage Tax Implementation Set At $10 Million

The Albany Democrat Herald is reporting that $10 million has been earmarked by Oregon’s governor for use in determining the details of a switch from a gas based tax system to a mileage based system. As this initiative calls for GPS hardware to be installed in vehicles, cooperation from vehicle manufacturers would be needed. This would likely mean that more states than Oregon alone would need to show support for changing to such a mileage based tax. The Democrat Herald has the full story.
